Preserving Local Folk Dance
Local folk dance is a vibrant part of our cultural heritage that deserves to be preserved. My grandma used to dance in a folk group when she was young, performing lively routines in colorful traditional costumes at festivals. Now, she teaches a small group of kids—including me—every Saturday. The dances tell stories of our ancestors’ lives: harvest celebrations, wedding joy, and community unity. We practice footwork and hand movements until they’re smooth, and we even perform at the town’s annual cultural fair. Many young people think folk dance is old-fashioned, but it’s full of energy and heart. Preserving it means honoring our roots and sharing our culture with future generations.
