The Importance of Preserving Folk Tales

Folk tales are stories passed down from generation to generation, and they’re more important than we think. My grandma tells me folk tales from her country every time I visit—stories about brave girls, clever foxes, and magical forests. These stories aren’t just for fun; they teach lessons about kindness, courage, and respect. They also tell us about our culture—what our ancestors believed, how they lived, and what they valued. But many folk tales are being forgotten, as kids now watch TV instead of listening to stories. We can preserve them by asking elders to tell us their stories, writing them down, and sharing them with friends. Folk tales are a piece of our history—they connect us to our roots, and they deserve to be kept alive for future kids to enjoy.
